The Project “Le Vie di Leonardo da Vinci” (Leonardo Da Vinci’s Ways) was launched in Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo (Vinci 1452-Amboise 1519), in perspective of the Celebrations of 2019, to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo, a global event.

In Vinci, a typical Tuscan village near Florence, everything talks about Leonardo: the toponym that Leonardo keeps in his name, the landscape that echoes in all his works, the house where he was born, the Castle with the Church where he was baptized and a few buildings that belonged to the Da Vinci and to his mother, the places where he had his first artistic training. Leonardo’s heritage is evident in the researches and divulgation activities of the Biblioteca Leonardiana, Museo Leonardiano and Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci; in contemporary artistic expressions as L’Uomo di Vinci by Mario Ceroli; in educational activities; in the commitment of many cultural and environmental associations; in the cultural and rural tourism combined with agriculture.

In this epochal moment, characterized by wars, divisions and building of separation walls, the itinerary Leonardo Da Vinci’s Ways will highlight the emblematic figure of Leonardo to update the idea of Europe and to form the new European citizen.

A Europe capable of giving birth to a New Humanism based on three important abilities:

integration (Leonardo is perceived as common good),

dialogue (Leonardo is genius-model of the knowledge on which the dialogue is based),

generating (Leonardo is genius–model of creativity that will save Peace from the dangers that threaten it).

Precondition is the recognition of the Universal Value of the Human Being effectively expressed in the famous drawing L’Uomo Vitruviano.

The logo of the Itinerary, a knot designed by Leonardo that recalls the Salomon’s knot, representing the Union among peoples in the circularity of cultures.
